MONTHLY MEETING 

INFORMATION

 

MEETING TIME/PLACE: ACFA meets on the 2nd Friday of the month at the Moravian Church meeting room.. The address is 10337 Old River School Road Downey CA. The meeting starts at 7:30pm and ends between 9:30 to 10:00pm. Walk on in and have a seat and enjoy an evening of "bird talk". Refreshments are served during the break and guests are invited to participate in the activities of the evening, join us as a member our membership chairperson will be glad to help you. If you would like more time to think about it, you may be a guest for up to three times. We hope you will enjoy yourself and decide to become part of your canary family.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS

•From the North-605 Fwy, exit at Florence Ave. Turn right. Continue west on Florence, turning left at Old River School Road which is a few miles down. Church is on the right one block down.

•From the South- 605 Fwy north, exit at Florence Ave. Street level leaves you on Studebaker Rd. Make a left and then another left onto Florence. Continue west on Florence, turning left at Old River School Road which is a few miles down. Church is on the right one block down.

•From the 710 Fwy north, exit at Florence Ave., turning right onto Florence. Continue east on Florence, turning right at Old River School Road. Church is on the right one block down.

•From the 710 Fwy south, exit at Florence Ave., turning left onto Florence. Continue east on Florence, turning right at Old River School Road. Church is on the right one block down.

•From the West--Interstate 10 (Santa Monica Fwy) east to the Santa Ana Fwy toward Santa Ana. Exit Paramount Blvd. Turn right onto Paramount Blvd. (south). Turn right on Florence Ave. (3rd signal from the freeway). Continue west on Florence, turning left at Old River School Road, third signal from Paramount Blvd.). Church is on the right one block down.

2010 rey columbus award   Rey Mena won Best Columbus at the yearly Columbus Fancy show which was in Plano, Texas this year. Unfortunately he was unable to attend. Here Rey is presented with a perpetual plaque by Columbus Fancy Canary Association secretary, Mary Anne Buckles.

 

At the February meeting, Jeff Leach spoke to the club about the qualities of different seeds and when you would want to feed each of them. Then he brought samples of a variety of products to control common pests in bird rooms: moths, rodents and flies to name a few

Speaker Jeff Leach answered everyone's individual questions about controlling pests in their bird room.

 

Salvador and Rosie explained the condition of the ACFA bank account and the need to plan early for the November show. The point? Shows take lots of bucks!
