Consider a Sponsorship
When club members sponsor a Division or a Section it helps the club pay the bills this year, and make early plans for next year’s show. $35 sponsors a Division and $20 sponsors a Section. Sponsors will be listed in the show catalog on the page listing the the standard for the sponsored bird. Remember...the show and the club are only as good as its members.
If you choose to sponsor a bird, email or call Mary Anne, but don’t pay anything until the show.
Show Manager's Message
Happy sunnertime, everyone! I am sure we are all getting toward the end of our moulting season, giving our birds lots of baths and keeping an eye out for our birds that are closest to the standard. Always lots to do with this hobby, that’s for sure.
Beginning with this newsletter, there will be lots of show information.
If you are thinking of booking a hotel room, refer to the list of hotel/motels
in this newsletter and book your room NOW. There is a wide range of comfort
levels and prices so I hope everyone can find something to his/her liking.
The ACFA Board hopes that all members will bring their birds out on
November 2-3. We always learn a lot about our birds at the shows and we always
see birds that are rare in the hobby. The vendors are sure to show up too so we
can pick up needed supplies.
If possible, please check your birds in on Friday afternoon/evening. Saturday always goes much smoother with the birds already taken care of on Friday evening. Besides, if your birds are checked in early, you will have time to help out at the show!
Even though it may seem that most of the jobs needed for putting on the show are taken, that is not the case. If you are interested in picking up judges at the airport, taking a few judges out to eat Friday evening or Saturday morning, let us know. Two hosts with a judge is always better than one, but certainly if you would like to spend some time discussing birds with an expert it is certainly possible. Call me and I will see if I can plug you in. Besides wining and dining a judge, there is other jobs that need to be filled. A crew of men to help with set up is still needed, as well as a crew who agrees to stay after and help reload the trailer. We will all be tired but the job still needs to get done.
I look forward to seeing everyone in November. May the best birder win!
